Yeah…I finally lost those first 7 pounds…after much procrastination and my doctor’s insistence that the extra weight gained from a prescription medicine I was taking would eventually take a toll on my health, I made my first goal this week!
Alas, I still have 20 to go, and it will probably take me the rest of the year to lose it…it’s a start.
How did I do it? Hmm, something that I should’ve been doing more of during the harsh winter we had in Ohio, EXERCISE. I force myself to ride my bike uphill aways and to work at least 2 days a week. It’s only 1.5 miles each way, but that’s 3 miles and I have definitely strengthened my legs as well as my lungs (I don’t smoke either).
Diet…no I didn’t go on a diet, but I did alter what I ate and how often. I cut out pasta and red meat…well down to one meal a week. I didn’t eat much red meat anyway, so this was not a problem. I increased my fiber intake as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. I snack on baby carrots or whole wheat low fat crackers instead of cookies now. Vanilla yogurt with 2 Wheetabix biscuits is my absolute favorite breakfast and snack and with a tablespoon or two of blackberry preserves it really replaces the craving of ice cream! Fiber helps move waste out of your system as well as fills you up.
It can be done and you can do it too! Don’t feel like you have to spend hundreds of dollars on Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers or other commercial diet programs. Find something that works for you and stick to it. Tell as many people as you can about your plan, your updates…do it everyday! It’s like your support network and those people are your cheerleaders.
Tell me your successful weight loss methods and goals! I’ll keep you up to date with mine!

I am proud of you and cheering you on all the way!!
