Five Degrees – An Observation

Five degrees, that was the temperature early this morning when I drove my 15 year old to school this morning.

Five pm (the day before) is when the news started flashing “Windchill Warning” across the top of my TV screen. The school closings had already started. Our school district was not one of them!

5th of January is when high school students lost bus transportation due to a failing levy in November 2008.

1355 – or there abouts – is the number of students who have to either walk or carpool to school every morning and afternoon in 5 degrees Fahrenheit, give or take, a few degrees.

I’d like to hear a formal statement from the high school principal and superintendent why 5 degrees on Jan. 15 wasn’t enough of a reason to close schools for a day.
