I’m pleasantly excited about seeing snow for the first time in 7 years in Ohio. I mean I’ve seen snow occasionally while on vacation with family and friends and even went sledding – what fun! But this is the first winter I will experience the whole way through and maybe by January or February, I’ll be ready for warmer weather. I’m still excited!
While my son rests in his cozy and warm bedroom with a sore throat and other cold symptoms, I sit here gazing out the window at this beautiful winter wonderland. I was sipping hot chocolate and noticed this brown mass moving effortlessly through the barren trees – a large, mature doe. Then later a vibrant scarlet cardinal perched on a small branch blanketed with new snow. The branch vibrated with his landing and it was the most spectacular sight from my penthouse suite.
My neighbors scurried downstairs early this morning to scrape and brush off the 3 inches or so of powdery snow on their cars. Leaving 30 minutes earlier than normal, my neighbors cautiously trekked down the icy driveway and I decidely shoveled snow with my dog attached to my wrist.
Soft, light flakes of cotton drift down from an endless gray sky and I am filled with wonderment and grace. It is the beauty of something so perfect and unexpected that I am filled with joy of this winter experience.
