I really wanted to call this blog “32 Steps to a Healthy You”…but that would be too misleading. Anyway I started a workout program a few times a week at my apartment complex’s exercise room and I was painfully using this machine I realized it was a Stair stepper. Now the irony of this is…I programmed it for 10 minutes – I need to start small and build up – I couldn’t get beyond 3 minutes…my legs were on fire!
So I trudged up a small hill back to my apartment building and stared blindly at all …. can you guess what I was staring at…YES, STAIRS! Ahhhh! So I began to count those stairs…a few down the hill, one up to the stair landing and all 3 flights to my vaulted ceiling top floor apartment. Do you see where this is going?
I counted…32 steps one way X 2 for a full trip X amount of trips I have to walk the dog, take my son to school, come home, go to the grocery/shopping and so on. I figured in all the totals somewhere I definitely reached my goal of 10 minutes on the Stair Stepper! The only good thing the machine did was show me the number of calories I burned…22 calories for 3 minutes. Ok, so now I know..times that by the number of times I go down or up those 32 steps.
